Presidents Message January 2024.
Happy New Year to all our members of the Victoria Canada-China Friendship Association.
Welcome the Year of the Dragon.
I hope for prosperity, good health and happiness for you all.
I wanted to let everyone know that we have had an exciting year so far. Our board continues to work for you to find interesting topics and bring wonderful speakers to our dinner meetings. A special thanks to Lisa Bengston for continuing to work diligently on sourcing speakers and venues for our Association dinners.
I received an invitation from the office of Mr. Diyi LIU, Vice Consul, on behalf of the ConsulGeneral of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver, to attend the upcoming reception in celebration of the 2024 Lunar Spring Festival. The event is scheduled to take place February 5, 2024, at 6pm at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver. As I am recovering from surgery and am not able to attend, our Vice-President Joshua Wang will attend the event in my place.
The Victoria Canada-China Friendship Association is looking forward to being able to foster friendship and growth in our community. Victoria’s Chinatown and the Victoria Chinese Canadian Museum are where we are going to help with resources.
We are continuing to try to grow our association. We continue to collaborate with the Vancouver Canada-China Friendship Association. We also have the Federation of Canada-China Friendship Associations. The Federation website lists all of the different friendship associations across the country: Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Toronto, Ottawa & of course, Victoria.
I am looking forward to seeing you all at the next meeting & future meetings.
Yours in friendship,
Carol Charlebois
President, VCCFA
