Please join us to hear John Adams speak about his new book “Chinese Victoria: A Long and Difficult Journey”. This book is described by David Obee of the Times Colonist as a masterpiece and one of the best books on Victoria history this century. It has received awards by the Hallmark Heritage Society, the B.C. Historical Federation and the Chinese Canadian Historical Society. This is a vital book for those interested in Victoria’s past. Mr. Adams will bring books for sale to the dinner meeting. For more information about the book, please see the attachment.
Biography
John Adams is a historian and author based in Victoria. He has spent 30 years working in the field of historic sites and museums in Ontario, Vancouver and
Victoria. He operates Discover The Past, his own history company that specializes in historical research, writing, lecturing and guiding tours. His latest book “Chinese Victoria: A Long and Difficult Journey”, is a historical and social account of Canada’s oldest Chinese community.
Restaurant
We will try a new Chinese restaurant this month: Toishan Kitchen, at #103, 306 W. Burnside Rd.
The best way to access the restaurant is to travel south on Tillicum road, past the Trans Canada Hwy, and turn right into the second parking lot. There is parking in front of the restaurant.

$25 for members and students and $30 for non-members. Cash or cheque only please. Please no abbreviations on the cheques.
